Got tree lichen?
While lichen, a self-sustaining fungus and algae that clings to the surface of your tree, is not harmful to the tree itself, it’s usually a good indicator your tree is declining. (Although lichen can form on healthy trees, it’s more commonly found on trees that are diseased or stressed.)
If tree lichen has taken over, take a few minutes to examine the trunk and branches for signs of cracking, splitting, disease, or infestation.
